Philosophy of a Renewable Energy Broker

Our Philosophy

I am motivated to ensure my company has a reputation for delivering the highest level of customer service to all our clients. I will always go the extra mile to ensure you receive the best outcome I can achieve in a timely, stress-free manner. I aim to create a business relationship based on trust and honesty plus provide exceptional service. I have a strong working relationship with my clients and have worked with many for over a decade. Sustainable Generation has long-term, profitable relationships with the relevant stakeholders within the electricity, wind turbine and solar industries.

I aim to achieve the best energy options for my clients based on clients’ needs and goals. By working independently I do not represent a specific energy company or utility. Sustainable Generation is an independent renewable energy broker.  I can compare a range of different contracts and aim to secure better prices and terms than clients could achieve on their own.

Leading Renewable Energy Solutions

World events now hugely affect the UK energy market and I aim to ensure the best outcomes for your business by monitoring changes in the energy industries and markets. The UK has experienced an energy crisis since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022.  The price of energy at the peak of the crisis in August 2022 reached unprecedented levels.  By monitoring the markets, news, legislation changes and communicating relevant information to my clients I am able to offer advice which is up to date. Now more than ever renewably sourced energy in the UK is vitally important for our energy security.

My personal belief which prompted me to become part of the renewable energy industry is that we need to become more reliant on renewably generated energy. In the three months February to April 2023 renewably produced energy accounted for 46.2% of the electricity from the major power producers in the UK. This is up from just 3.5% in the same period 2010. I definitely intend to continue to play my part in the transition to a more sustainable future by growing my business as a renewable energy broker.

Our Journey

I am very proud to say I have been involved in the renewable energy industry since 2011. This was prompted by the advent of the Feed In Tariff scheme (FIT).

In 2012 I installed an 80kW Endurance wind turbine at my then home farm in West Yorkshire followed by a solar PV installation.  I then installed a 33kW ground source heat pump as the scheme opened to domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) applicants.
The first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), meter contract, submission of total generation meter reading for a FIT payment and management of REGO’s  were for my own turbine.  I sourced renewable energy for farms. I have been involved in renewable energy industry since first applying for planning permission for my turbine.

After the commissioning of my turbine I gained employment with the company who had installed it. I worked for a decade in small to medium scale on-shore wind initially installing turbines.  Legislation changes led to the halting of new installations and I then became involved in the operation and maintenance of the fleet of wind turbines.

Most generators who have invested in renewable assets have other business interests which are often diverse, time consuming and mean you require a wide skill set.  Skills needed are both geared to physical tasks and mental ones and tends to leave you time poor and not in front of a computer.

I realized I could provide a service to owners of generation assets where I organized their energy brokerage and meter submissions.  This makes a positive difference to the efficiency of this part of their business. I also have the time, resource and experience to assist with problems such as failed export meters, missed payments, insurance claims etc. Businesses may be involved with both generating renewable energy and importing renewable energy for farms.

I have built up extensive knowledge and experience in the energy market and am able to provide clients with valuable insights and recommendations.

I appreciate the benefits and detriments of owning a generation asset and being a landowner or farmer as I have experienced this myself.  This appreciation and experience has enabled me to build a strong relationship with my clients as I know how and when to assist them with their renewable energy for farms.
