The UK government has pledged to ease restrictions on building onshore wind farms in England, following a potential rebellion from Conservative MPs.
The current regulation, which mandates that new turbines be erected on pre-determined land, will be revised by the levelling-up department.
Over 30 backbenchers had threatened to instigate the change via a planning bill currently being considered by Parliament. It is important to note that new wind farms will still be subject to local approval.
